This Or That | Book Tag

Hello, everyone, how are you?
Today we are completing a fun This or That book tag! In doing so, we are doing in with red hair! Well, I shall correct myself, I am doing it with ginger coloured hair~ It is such a change, and I’m not sure all those around me like it, but I like it.
Anyway, I wrote this in a quite a really weird mood, so I do hope you guys enjoy it! Read on~

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed

As I struggle with sleep quite heavily, I try and keep my sleep space (my bed, as my room is my general space, so my bed must heavily be my sleep space) separate from my general activities where my brain would be active and engaged.
Unless the book is designated to be winding down, of course, then of wouldn’t be paying as much attention to the book.

2. Male main character or female character

Definitely female! I feel like I have to read from the perspective of a female character otherwise I struggle to truly connect with the novel and immerse myself with it. Is anyone else like that?

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks

This is so difficult, as it definitely depends on my mood! But lately, it would definitely have to be sweet, as I am craving chocolate. I hate this saying- as it makes me think it is forewarning- touch wood- but I wonder why. I say this because I usually never crave chocolate.

4. Trilogies or quartets

Honestly, let me be real here, I’ve never heard the word quartets before. I’ve heard quarters and variations before, but never quartets. With this being said, this does not affect my decision in the making. This is because I would definitely prefer trilogies as I generally prefer standalones or as fewer novels in the series as possible to make as bigger impact as possible.

5. First-person POV or third POV

First-person! I dislike reading third-person point of views because I cannot get immersed in the scene. I mean, sure, the odd third POV can set the scene and create and great mood for a first-person POV, however, I selectively like the first-person point of view compared to a third.

6. Reading at night or in the morning

Neither? I prefer not to read in the morning because I’m not a morning person, and the night time is when I’m most active, so reading is the last thing on my mind- no offence to the offence takers. If there was an option, I would take midday- when my mind is settled, I have eaten, I have done some productive tasks, and mellowed out and ready for a break. However, that is not an option. So, I’d have to choose night time- for choosing reading over sleep.

7. Libraries or bookstores

Bookstores! I know, I’m the odd bird that likes to fly away from the flock, but I can’t help it, I love buying books that I can KEEP. I hate the smell of used books- don’t judge me- and I don’t like returning them. So why would I choose libraries over bookstores?
Bookstores for the win and fresh book smell for the win~

8. Books that make you laugh or books that make you cry

For me, this is an obvious decision. Books that make me cry. I want a book that makes me scream- makes me wrecked with emotion. Sure, I want it to make me laugh too, but the feeling off tossing your book over the words an author has so brilliantly and delicately is an experience unlike anything alike.

9. Black book covers or white covers

Now, you see I was going to choose a brilliant white book cover, but I changed my mint. You see, I changed my mind because so much can be done in a black book cover. Take Lauren James’ cover, for example, it is so beautiful and detailed, and it stands so vibrate on the black cover. I don’t think it could do the same on the white. Which is why the black wins.

10. Character-driven or plot-driven

This is so difficult! I wouldn’t read a book with a terrible character-driven narrative, however, I also couldn’t read a novel if it lacked a good plot-driven narrative. I feel as though I am quite stuck here.
Hmm, after some thought, I did determine that if I did have to eliminate one, it would have to be character-driven because without plot-driven the novel would be pointless.
