Hello, everyone~ How are you?
Today we completing the ‘naughty or nice’ Christmas tag!
I found this tag from a popular blogger called ‘Jennifer Faughnan’ on her blog ‘Jenniely’. In saying this, full credit goes to her, and I will post the links to her blog down below so go check her out.
Now, let us get started!
Bookish Naughty & Nice Tag
1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it
I’ve never actually participated in an ARC, so I have never had to review- or not review- one. I’m not even exactly sure what it is.
Actually, I’m going to be honest, I tried to Google it, but even Google couldn’t help me here. I’m a lost cause.
2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
Actually, this is going to sound bad again, but I’ve never used, or wanted to use, Netgalley. I’ve never seen the purpose. I researched it further just for the purpose of this tag but I just couldn’t see the point in wanting to join it. So, I’m sorry to let you down, guys, but I have a 0% feedback rating.
3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review on your blog (and never did)
But I am guilty of the opposite. I would get asked to do free reviews of people’s novels all the time, and it would happen so frequently that I would have to read/skim their novels, post a review on my blog and by the time I would go to posting to Goodreads, I would forget. I would tell the person I’d post, and have the intention to do it and get sidetracked.
My bad! It was a free review though.
4. Folded down the page of a book
When in a dire situation, you gotta do what you gotta do. It’s not like I can remember a random number for hours, or days or even weeks at a time. I have to fold the pages. It breaks my heart, so I do it the slightest little bit and crease it back so it hardly it noticeable.
5. Accidentally spilled on a book
I don’t think so, otherwise, it didn’t leave a big stain. However, in saying that, I do have a tendency to drop, spill, knock over, and break things so the chances that I have spilt something on one of my novels is actually pretty high, now that I think about it. I have entirely contradicted myself, haven’t I?
6. DNF a book this year
I’ve put down so many novels it is crazy, today has been a terrible reading year. 2020 will be much better hopefully, it is my goal.
7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
No way, I’m a broke University student, I don’t have enough coin to just go buy books purely for the intention of looks. I’d be dreaming if that was the case.
8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else
I do this all the time, but it lasts 5-10 minutes before my anxiety creeps up on me and forces me to do it because I just can’t concentrate.
9. Skim read a book
I can’t help it, sometimes authors just drone on. And like I said before, I did a lot of free reviews and those free reviews were for newbie authors. One was a prose that didn’t even make sense, I had to skim. You can’t judge me for that one.
10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal
I started off at 100 novels, then it went to 50. Then it went down again to 25. I didn’t even reach that goal. I don’t even think I reached 20. Do you know how sad that is? I need to step up my game.
11. Borrowed a book and not returned it
I don’t like borrowing books in general, I’d much rather own my own copy of the novel than have to return a novel within a certain time frame.
In saying this, I probably have been naughty and not returned a novel when I was much younger, but I’m not counting that!
12. Broke a book buying ban
I don’t create book buying bans for this exact reason, I would break them in an instant. However, I did say naughty because I have gone into a book store and said “I”m not buying a book today” and walked out with one (or several).
13. Started a review, left it for ages, then forget what the book was about
I’ve done this so many times I’ve lost count. Which says a lot about me.
14. Wrote in a book
Absolutely never! What an outrage.
Nice- to an angelic level. How dare you write in a book. The poor novel.
I vote for book rights!
15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
Absolutely. I don’t use Goodreads as an online bookshelf, I just use it to find more books and hopscotch off other people’s book lists. I’ve found quite a few good ones, honestly. So, despite myself being so desperately lazy, thank you to all those people out there who aren’t! Good on you!
16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend
Honestly, I don’t borrow things from friends as I don’t see them often enough to return them. So, if I wasn’t so conscious of my own actions, this question would be naughty instead of nice. But, as I am conscious, I win! I don’t know where I was going with this. I am watching a show while I write this and I’m struggling not to type the words I’m writing. Honesty.
18. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
I prefer when people don’t borrow my books, as I learnt the hard way when people didn’t return them. I still haven’t received one of my books I lent a friend months ago- nearly at the start of the year. I’m never going to see it again, truly.
19. Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
I distinctly remember owning a pristine copy of the Harry Potter book- I think I had the fifth or fourth one- and I took the jacket off the cover off the book only to lose and ruin it. I found it weeks later behind the couch and it was ruined.
20. Sat on a book
Honestly, if a book is on my bed, I’m probably going to sit on it or lie on it. Let’s be real here, I do have a tendency to get comfortable around the objects in my bed. I’m a bit lazy like that, but it works for me.
Sadly, today we only reached 6 out of 20 questions today so I awarded ourselves six presents! Alas, I am a nice reader after all. One day, I hope to be at the level you are all at x
That is all for today, thank you all for reading!
I tried to put as much effort into this as possible, however, as I haven’t done some of these questions I couldn’t write as in-depth a I wanted to, so the post may seem small. I am really sorry, and I will make it up to you in future posts.
Like always, if you have anything you’d like to say, feel free to comment it down below. If that doesn’t work for you, you can go to my Instagram or my Twitter which will be linked down below!
See you in my next post x
