Reading Habits Book Tag!

Hey, Guys! Thanks for clicking this link, I hope you get to know a little bit more about me as a blogger/reader.

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Yes! I have this lovely little porch swing out the front of my house that has this little shade attached to it. It sits directly in the sunlight. I love reading there at around 1-2pm when the sun is in the perfect spot.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmarks! But I also love using sticky notes cut up into small sections, so I can track how many chapters I have left.

Can you stop reading during a chapter, or do you finish after a certain page/chapter?

I like to finish after a dedicated chapter I had chosen before I even began reading.
However, if I get tired (or my butt goes numb) I will finish in the middle. Or if the chapter is too large.

Dear Authors,
Please make your chapters smaller!

Do you eat or drink whilst reading?

No. I tend to forget I was eating or drinking and it goes cold/warm. Which is always the worst when I remember!

Do you listen to music or TV whilst you read?

Yes, sometimes I do! But if the novel gets particularly interesting I will turn it off almost every single time.

However, in saying this, if I am forcing myself to read then I have to be in complete silence because I will be easily distracted.

One book at a time or several?

I used to try and read several at a time but I quickly realised in hindsight it took nearly three times the average amount to finish a book. Not only that, but I would forget what was happening or had just happened.

Because of this, I have forced myself to be dedicated to the author’s work, putting all my focus onto one story at a time.

Reading at home or everywhere?

At home! I can’t seem to have the same focus if I am not at home. I am an overly paranoid person, so when I am in public, I spend more time focusing on my surroundings than on my reading. Plus, home is comfort and security, with minimal distractions.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently, I read significantly slower when I read aloud because I stutter and stumble over my words. I spend more time correcting the sentence then actually reading what is on the pages; what the author is trying to express.

Do you read ahead or skip pages?

Never, ever have I skipped entire pages. If the dialogue is too lengthy I do tend to skim or skip small paragraphs but I could never skip entire pages. Too much loss of information!
Then in the back of my head, I will be anxious I missed something important, and have to re-read it all again anyway.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it like new! Why would you want to damage a perfectly good book?
Outrageous I say, outrageous!

Do you write in your books?

Let me repeat- outrageous!
Kidding, but on a serious note, I could never ruin or taint a page by writing in my books.

If I have a note I’d like to remember I would put it on a sticky note and stick it to the side of the page. It isn’t in myself to taint a book.

That is all for today! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you got to know me as an author.
